FAQs
PROCESS + TIMELINE
1. How does the Room Service process work from start to finish?
ROOM SERVICE is a streamlined, designer-led sprint for your space. Once you submit your intake form and measurements, we kick things off with a quick call to align on your goals. From there, I map out your layouts, develop your concept, create your sourcing list, and build your style guide behind the scenes. The whole experience is designed to be fast, thoughtful, and collaborative—so by the end, you know exactly how to bring your room to life.
2. Why do I need to purchase my own digital room scan?
Because accuracy is everything. Your scan gives us a clean, trustworthy foundation from the very beginning. When you capture your space, it ensures we’re working from real-world dimensions—not approximations or guesswork.
It also means you own the files, we can start right away without scheduling a site visit, and every layout, elevation, and sourcing call I make is based on the truth of your room. Think of it as giving me the blueprint I need so I can give you the design you want.
3. How long does the entire process take?
The full ROOM SERVICE experience typically takes about 14 days from kickoff to final deliverables. I built it intentionally as a focused, efficient, high-touch timeline—long enough to design thoughtfully, short enough that you’re not waiting around for weeks.
4. How soon can I start after submitting the intake form?
Usually within a few days. Once your form, measurements, and Pinterest board are submitted, you’ll receive an email with available start dates. I take on a limited number of ROOM SERVICE projects at a time so you get my full attention—so earlier submissions tend to get earlier start slots.
DELIVERABLES
1. What exactly do I receive at the end of Room Service?
You’ll walk away with a complete, designer-led plan for your room—something you can confidently execute on your own timeline. This includes:
A cohesive concept for the space
A 2D furniture layout
2D elevations for walls + vertical elements
A detailed sourcing list with links
A mini style guide so you know how to pull it all together
A purchasing tracker to stay organized
Basically: everything you need to make the room look intentional, elevated, and fully you.
2. Do I get both 2D layouts and 3D visualizations?
You’ll receive a 2D furniture layout and 2D elevations for the room. These give you a clear, accurate understanding of how everything fits and how your vertical elements work together.
We don’t offer 3D visualizations at this time—but the combination of layouts and elevations still gives you all the clarity you need to confidently bring the space to life.
3. Do you give me multiple layout options or just one?
You’ll receive one final, dialed-in layout—the version I believe works best for the room based on your goals, measurements, and inspiration. If there’s more than one strong option, I’ll share an alternate so you can compare. The goal is clarity, not overwhelm.
4. Will you tell me exactly where to place everything?
Absolutely. Your deliverables include clear notes and visuals so you know exactly where each piece goes—measurements, spacing, wall placements, heights—everything. No guessing, no “is this right??” texts, just a clear plan to follow.
5. Do I receive a shopping list?
Yep! Your sourcing list includes every recommended item, linked and ready to shop. You’ll also receive suggested alternates in case you want options. And because you’re purchasing everything yourself, you can shop on your own timeline and take advantage of sales when they pop up.
BUDGET + PURCHASING
1. Do you purchase anything for me?
Nope — you do the purchasing, and I do the planning. This keeps the process fast, flexible, and totally in your control. It also means you can shop on your own timeline, watch for sales, use store credits, and make choices that fit your budget without any markup from me.
2. Can you source within my budget?
ROOM SERVICE doesn’t include full budget management—that level of oversight is reserved for our full-service clients. With ROOM SERVICE, I aim to source primarily from mid-level retail vendors that are accessible to most, with a few vintage or aspirational pieces mixed in when it truly elevates the room. You’ll get a beautiful, well-rounded list that feels stylish, realistic, and doable.
3. Do you provide alternates?
Yes. I aim to provide two options for each piece so you have flexibility on price, look, and availability. This makes shopping easier and ensures the overall design direction stays consistent no matter which option you choose.
SCOPE
1. What counts as a “room”?
A “room” is any single, enclosed space up to roughly 200 square feet. If your space is larger, open-concept, or unusually complex, we’ll chat before starting to make sure ROOM SERVICE is the right fit or whether it might need additional scope.
2. Can you help with awkward layouts or tiny/oddly shaped rooms?
Yes — absolutely. Awkward or quirky spaces are often where thoughtful design makes the biggest impact. As long as your scans and hand-checks are accurate, I can create layouts and recommendations that make even the weird corners make sense.
3. Can you design more than one room at once?
For ROOM SERVICE, I work one room at a time so each space gets my full attention. Once we wrap your first room, you’re welcome to book your next room at a discounted rate. If you want multiple rooms designed at the same time, that falls under our full-service offering, where we can take a cohesive, whole-home approach.
4. Can you help with built-ins, wallpaper, or custom millwork?
ROOM SERVICE includes wallpaper ideas and design direction, but we don’t create anything custom within this package. Built-ins, millwork, or custom detailing require technical drawings and deeper involvement — available as add-ons or through our full-service design offering.
REVISIONS + COMMUNICATION
1. How many revisions are included?
ROOM SERVICE includes one round of revisions to your layout and sourcing list. This keeps the process focused, efficient, and true to the 14-day timeline. Most clients find that the first pass is already very close to the finish line, and the revision round helps us fine-tune anything that needs adjusting.
2. How do we communicate between meetings?
You’ll have direct access to me throughout the process. For quick decisions — like “should I buy this?” or “which lamp is better?” — I prefer text because it keeps momentum high and lets us make clean choices without slowing down. Email still works great for anything longer or anything that needs attachments, so we’ll use both depending on what feels easiest in the moment.
3. What if I need more support after the final presentation?
If you’d like extra help after your deliverables are complete — whether it’s reviewing alternates, making a swap, or double-checking placement — you can book additional support as an add-on. Some clients like a little ongoing guidance as their pieces arrive, and I’m always happy to help where it makes sense.
AFTER THE REVEAL
1. Do you help during purchasing?
Once you have your final design, you’ll handle the purchasing on your own timeline. If you need a quick thumbs-up on an alternate item or want to double-check a dimension, you’re welcome to reach out during your access window. I’m here to help keep things aligned without hopping into your cart.
2. Do you help style the space once everything arrives?
ROOM SERVICE doesn’t include in-home styling, but I’m always happy to offer general styling tips and recommendations based on your deliverables. If you’d like hands-on styling, installation, or editorial-level finishing, that can be quoted separately or handled through our full-service design offering.
3. How do I book an add-on?
We offer hourly packages if you’d like extra support after your ROOM SERVICE experience — whether it’s reviewing alternates, confirming placement, or getting a little guidance as items arrive. You can book these at any time, and they’re a great way to keep the momentum going without upgrading to a full-service engagement.
SERVICE FIT
1. Who is Room Service best for?
ROOM SERVICE is perfect for anyone who wants a professionally designed space without committing to a full-service project or construction. It’s ideal if you:
Want a clear, elevated plan you can follow on your own
Prefer shopping and installing on your own timeline
Want a designer’s eye without long lead times or large budgets
Are craving direction, clarity, and cohesion for one specific room
Are comfortable making purchases yourself once the plan is delivered
If you love a design plan that tells you exactly what to do next — this is for you.
2. Who is Room Service not for?
ROOM SERVICE isn’t the right fit if you’re looking for:
Multiple rooms designed at the same time
Custom millwork, built-ins, construction, or technical drawings
Contractor-ready plans or renovation oversight
Someone to manage purchasing, deliveries, or installation
A fully bespoke, whole-home experience
If your project includes any of these, please get in touch — we’d love to talk more and help guide you toward the best fit.
3. Can you design for open-concept spaces?
Open-concept spaces usually include multiple functional zones, which extends beyond the scope of a single ROOM SERVICE package. Depending on size and complexity, we may need to treat each zone as its own room or shift the project into a more customized offering. We’ll walk through this during intake so the path forward is clear.
4. Can you work with my existing furniture?
Yes — as long as the pieces you want to keep fit the space and overall direction, I’m happy to design around them. You’ll share photos and measurements during intake. If something doesn’t work or throws the balance off, I’ll tell you honestly and offer alternatives that maintain the integrity of the design.
POLICIES
1. Are Room Service fees refundable?
ROOM SERVICE fees become non-refundable after our first Zoom call. That’s when the design process officially begins and I start allocating time and resources to your project. If you’re unsure before booking, I’m always happy to answer questions so you feel confident moving forward.
2. What if I need to reschedule a meeting?
Because ROOM SERVICE runs on a tight, intentionally condensed timeline, it’s crucial that clients keep their scheduled meetings. This structure is what allows me to deliver a full design plan in such a short window. If something urgent comes up, just let me know as soon as possible — we’ll do our best to find another time without disrupting the flow of your project.
3. Do you take clients outside of Los Angeles?
Yes — absolutely. ROOM SERVICE is designed to be fully remote, so as long as you’re able to complete the room scan and measurements, you can work with me from anywhere.
