FAQs

PROCESS + TIMELINE

1. How does the Room Service process work from start to finish?

ROOM SERVICE is a streamlined, designer-led sprint for your space. Once you submit your intake form and as-built measurements, I'll get to work — developing your concept, layouts, elevations, and style guide behind the scenes, with a video walkthrough from me at key moments along the way. The whole experience is designed to be fast, thoughtful, and collaborative — so by the end, you have everything you need to execute.

2. Why do I need to purchase my own digital room scan?

Because accuracy is everything. Your scan gives us a clean, trustworthy foundation from the very beginning. When you capture your space, it ensures we’re working from real-world dimensions—not approximations or guesswork.

It also means you own the files, we can start right away without scheduling a site visit, and every layout, elevation, and design decision I make is based on the truth of your room. Think of it as giving me the blueprint I need so I can give you the design you want.

3. How long does the entire process take?

The full ROOM SERVICE experience typically takes about 14 days from start to final deliverables. The clock begins once your intake form and as-built measurements are received. I built it intentionally as a focused, efficient, high-touch timeline — long enough to design thoughtfully, fast enough that the momentum never breaks.

4. How soon can I start after submitting the intake form?

Once your intake form and as-built measurements are received, your project officially begins. I take on a limited number of ROOM SERVICE projects at a time so you get my full attention.

DELIVERABLES

1. What exactly do I receive at the end of Room Service?

You’ll walk away with a complete, designer-led plan for your room—something you can confidently execute on your own timeline. This includes:

  • A cohesive concept for the space

  • 2D furniture layout

  • 2D elevations for walls + vertical elements

  • THE LIST

  • The STYLE GUIDE so you know how to pull it all together

  • The PLANNING + PURCHASING TRACKER to stay organized

Basically: everything you need to make the room look intentional, elevated, and fully you.

2. Do I get both 2D layouts and 3D visualizations?

You'll receive a 2D furniture layout and 2D elevations for the room. These give you a clear, accurate understanding of how everything fits and how your vertical elements work together.

If the space calls for it, I may also use AI to generate a rough 3D visualization to represent design intent — not as a final rendering, but as a visual tool to help convey direction.

3. Do you give me multiple layout options or just one?

You'll receive two layout options to consider at the start — both tailored to your room's dimensions, flow, and goals. Once you pick your direction, we refine from there into a single, dialed-in final layout. The goal is clarity, not overwhelm.

4. Will you tell me exactly where to place everything?

Absolutely. Your deliverables include clear notes and visuals so you know exactly where each piece goes — measurements, spacing, wall placements, heights — everything. No guessing, no second-guessing, just a clear plan to follow.

5. Do I receive a shopping list?

Yes — you'll receive THE LIST, a category-by-category breakdown of everything your room needs, along with starting-point product links embedded in your STYLE GUIDE. Because you're purchasing everything yourself, you can shop on your own timeline, take advantage of sales, and make the choices that fit your budget. If you'd like deeper help selecting specific pieces, that's available as an hourly add-on.

BUDGET + PURCHASING

1. Do you purchase anything for me?

Nope — you do the purchasing, and I do the planning. This keeps the process fast, flexible, and totally in your control. It also means you can shop on your own timeline, watch for sales, use store credits, and make choices that fit your budget without any markup from me.

2. Can you source within my budget?

ROOM SERVICE doesn't include budget management — that level of oversight is reserved for our full-service clients. THE LIST and the STYLE GUIDE will give you direction on what to look for in each category, with starting-point product links to help you begin. From there, you have full flexibility to shop within your own budget, mixing high and low however makes sense for your space.

3. Do you provide multiple options for furniture pieces?

Not as a standard part of ROOM SERVICE. While THE LIST gives you category direction and the STYLE GUIDE includes starting-point product links, per-piece options aren't included by default. If you'd like my eye on a specific piece — narrowing down between two you've found, sourcing alternates, or weighing in on something you've come across — you can book hourly support anytime.

SCOPE

1. What counts as a “room”?

A "room" is any single, enclosed space up to roughly 200 square feet. If your space is larger, open-concept, or unusually complex, please reach out before booking so we can make sure ROOM SERVICE is the right fit — or whether your project needs additional scope.

2. Can you help with awkward layouts or tiny/oddly shaped rooms?

Yes — absolutely. Awkward or quirky spaces are often where thoughtful design makes the biggest impact. As long as your scans are accurate, I can create layouts and recommendations that make even the weird corners make sense.

3. Can you design more than one room at once?

For ROOM SERVICE, I work one room at a time so each space gets my full attention. Once we wrap your first room, you’re welcome to book your next room at a discounted rate. If you want multiple rooms designed at the same time, that falls under our full-service offering, where we can take a cohesive, whole-home approach.

4. Can you help with built-ins, wallpaper, or custom millwork?

ROOM SERVICE includes wallpaper ideas and design direction, but we don’t create anything custom within this package. Built-ins, millwork, or custom detailing require technical drawings and deeper involvement — available as add-ons or through our full-service design offering.

5. does room service include kitchens or bathrooms?

Kitchens and bathrooms aren't included in ROOM SERVICE. These spaces involve fixed elements like plumbing, cabinetry, and tile work that require deeper technical involvement than this offering covers — that's full-service territory.

REVISIONS + COMMUNICATION

1. How DO REVISIONS WORK?

Because we're designing your space in real time — together — there isn't a "draft and revise" cycle the way there is in traditional design. Throughout your two-week window, you have a designer in your pocket. We're shaping the plan as we go through text and voice notes, so by the time your final deliverables arrive, they already reflect everything you've weighed in on. Small adjustments are part of the process — endless rounds of revisions aren't.

2. How do we communicate between meetings?

Throughout your two-week design window, we communicate through text and voice notes — quick, easy, and on your time. For longer conversations or anything that needs attachments, email is great too. The point is: you have direct access to me as we shape the plan together, without the friction of scheduling calls back and forth.

3. What if I need more support after MY PLAN IS DELIVERED?

You'll have 30 days of direct text access to me after delivery — that's part of every ROOM SERVICE engagement. Whether you're deciding between two pieces, double-checking placement, or want my eye on something you found while shopping, that's exactly what the 30-day window is for. Beyond the 30 days, or if you'd like deeper support like sourcing help, hourly add-ons are available anytime.

AFTER THE REVEAL

1. Do you help during purchasing?

Once your plan is delivered, the purchasing is yours to handle on your own timeline. If you want my eye on something you found, a quick thumbs-up on a piece, or to double-check a dimension, that's exactly what your 30-day access window is for. I'm here to help keep things aligned without hopping into your cart.

2. Do you help style the space once everything arrives?

ROOM SERVICE doesn't include in-home styling, but I'm always happy to offer general styling tips and recommendations based on your deliverables. If you'd like hands-on styling, installation, or editorial-level finishing, that's full-service territory.

3. How do I book an add-on?

Hourly support is available anytime after your ROOM SERVICE experience — whether you'd like my eye on a specific piece, confirmation on placement, or guidance as items arrive. Just send me an email at hi@talialaconi.com and we’ll get you set up. Hourly add-ons are a great way to keep the momentum going without upgrading to a full-service engagement.

SERVICE FIT

1. Who is Room Service best for?

ROOM SERVICE is perfect for anyone who wants a professionally designed space without committing to a full-service project or construction. It's ideal if you:

  • Want a clear, elevated plan you can follow on your own

  • Prefer shopping and installing on your own timeline

  • Want a designer's eye without a long-term commitment

  • Are craving direction, clarity, and cohesion for one specific room

  • Are comfortable making purchases yourself once the plan is delivered

If you love a design plan that tells you exactly what to do next — this is for you.

2. Who is Room Service not for?

ROOM SERVICE isn't the right fit if you're looking for:

  • Multiple rooms designed at the same time

  • Kitchen or bathroom design

  • Custom millwork, built-ins, construction, or technical drawings

  • Contractor-ready plans or renovation oversight

  • Someone to manage purchasing, deliveries, or installation

  • A fully bespoke, whole-home experience

If your project includes any of these, please get in touch — we'd love to talk more and help guide you toward the best fit.

3. Can you design for open-concept spaces?

Open-concept spaces usually include multiple functional zones, which extends beyond the scope of ROOM SERVICE. Depending on size and complexity, we may need to treat each zone as its own room or shift the project into a more customized offering. Please reach out before booking so we can walk through your space and find the right fit.

4. Can you work with my existing furniture?

Yes — as long as the pieces you want to keep work for the space and overall direction, I'm happy to design around one or two existing items. You'll share photos and measurements during intake. If something doesn't fit or throws the balance off, I'll tell you honestly and suggest a different direction.

POLICIES

1. Are Room Service fees refundable?

ROOM SERVICE fees become non-refundable once your intake form has been submitted. That's when I start allocating time and resources to your design. If you're unsure before booking, email hi@talialaconi.com so you feel confident before purchasing.

2. What if I need more time during our two-week window?

ROOM SERVICE runs on an intentionally condensed timeline that depends on us moving together in real time. To protect the integrity of the timeline — and to be fair to other clients in my queue — if I don't hear from you for more than three days, I'll consider the project abandoned and your fee forfeited. If you know upfront you'll need to step away for a stretch, just let me know so we can plan around it.

3. Do you take clients outside of Los Angeles?

Yes — absolutely. ROOM SERVICE is designed to be fully remote, so as long as you can get your as-built measurements to me, you can work with me from anywhere.
